I know this was discussed previously, but I don't know the outcome of the discussion. It's all the more relevant as the holiday gift-giving season approaches: has this been published? If so, where can I buy it and for how much? If not, what permissions do I need to publish a single copy for a deserving individual?
All in all I think it's just fantastic. Like another commenter above I do have a little tug-of-war going on between the spare phrasing of Dr. Seuss and the verbose (sometimes redundantly) Lovecraft. It may be that an editor could help bridge that, or it might be you just need to sleep on it a bit and come back to some areas later with your own editorial eye. Regardless, you have your finger on something that is sort of profound when you manage to combine the sensibilities of these two poetic masters. As for content, I was skeptical you'd be able to pull everything together, given the amount of layered framing going on in the original story. I can tell it was something of a challenge, and I am surprised I can say you pulled it off.. I mean, let's be honest, it still will be too confusing for "beginning readers" but this is not actually for kids, it's for Lovecraft fans. That said, I would give it to my 6 yo daughter if not for that one little disturbing image (which is far too beautiful to remove) of the girl being carried off by the cultists... remembering as I do how clearly & permanently the images from Dr. Seuss books
Funny.
Thank you so much!!
